Security officers took nationwide action

Security officers and allies take part in a national day of action to raise awareness about the critical issues facing the industry

Security officers across the country took action on July 30 to demand higher standards in the security industry. During the COVID-19 pandemic, security officers were deemed essential, yet their wages, benefits, training, and workplace protections didn’t and still do not reflect that.

On July 22, UC Berkeley’s Labor Center released a national study on the state of private security workers. The study explained that between a lack of benefits and livable wages, exceedingly high turnover, and no federal training standards, the field of private security is leaving workers unprotected. Improving job quality in this sector is a matter both of economic justice and public safety. Show your solidarity – #StandforSecurity!
