I’m a single parent and have worked for Inter-Con at Kaiser for eight years. I’ve personally experienced many struggles in trying to get a union at Kaiser South Sacramento.

I was reprimanded by supervisors for gathering signatures for a worker-related petition, and for discussing working conditions with co-workers. Our supervisors have been intimidating, rude and counter-productive for the most part – and all we’re trying to do is have a union.

I want to provide for my son’s future – I want it to be bright and secure. But without job security and a decent retirement plan, I worry about money problems for me and my family in the near future. My family and job are important to me so I want a union to gain decency and respect, and to improve working conditions at my hospital.

We’ve struggled for two and half years for a voice and respect on the job. But Inter-Con has fought us every step of the way. We’re tired of being intimidated and interrogated. We need a voice on the job.
